EXT. UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA STUDENT APARTMENT BUILDING – DAY

Hurricane Jane SHRIEKS through ancient oaks bending the largest branches as if they are made of plastic.

Homicide Detective JERRY SCOVILLE, (54) and sexy, ducks into the building's entrance.

Homicide Detective ERIKA MOORE (38) jogs up. Her long hair whips in the wind. She catches a fistful and holds it away from her eyes.

A small WHITE FEATHER peeks out from between her fingers as she focuses on the intercom button "JACOBS 301."

                        MOORE
            Alice Jacobs knew her killer.

                                                    SCOVILLE
            Not necessarily.

Scoville presses the 301 button. BUZZ.

INT. THIRD FLOOR HALLWAY - UF STUDENT APARTMENTS – DAY

Scoville WRAPS on door 301 and opens it to a living room filled with murals of fantasy figures.

Tiny white lights flicker over a mermaid's tail.
